POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Department New York is responsible for corporate, foundation and government grant writing, corporate marketing, direct mail, special events, major gifts and communications in New York City and the Tri-State area.  The Grant Writer is responsible for writing proposals and reports for new and continuing foundation and corporate funding programs, which can include prospect research and cultivation. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Craft proposals and reports for new and existing foundation, corporate and individual donors in New York City.

 

  • Conduct research to identify prospective public and private donors whose funding interests relate to BELL programs.
  • Under the guidance of the Director of Development New York help facilitate relationships with foundation and other institutional officers who are responsible for making funding decisions to ensure continued funding and funder involvement.
  1. Support additional targeted development projects in BELL outreach and donor cultivation.

 

  • Contribute to and help maintain a database of foundation and corporation activities and funding profiles.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must have Bachelor’s Degree.  Successful grant writing experience preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience. 

This position requires a passion for improving educational and life opportunities for children, initiative, superior interpersonal and computer skills, ability to perform as a member of a high-functioning team. The ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple departments within the organization as well with external consultants and donors is integral to this position.
